155 SqMag Cover June 2013 16.6 sm.comThe article “Pastures New: Bob Callahan Retires From Princeton Squash After A Revolutionary Career” (June 2013) was really special and one of James Zug’s very best pieces. Despite a fierce rivalry for thirty years, I have always had tremendous respect for Bob and his program. The success of the program speaks for itself, but the ultimate tribute may be the fact that all five of his sons attended Princeton and played for him, despite the fact that some of us even recruited them. You captured it really well, and I was emotionally moved by the piece. Very nice job and an important one that told the story of his career in a superb way. It will clearly be an historic piece at the end of the day, one that will have much more significance than anyone can know at this time.

153 SqMag Cover March April 2013 16.4 sm.comI enjoyed immensely your article “Learn From the Pros.” (March 2013) I play league squash in Rhode Island and on several occasions have run into the situation you describe. It seems that mostly younger players will think nothing of hitting rail after rail and then blasting the ball crosscourt. After suffering through a couple of these “warm-ups” I decided that I had to say something. The first player was clearly taken aback when I said the protocol was for “you to hit the ball to me and I’ll hit it to you.” He didn’t get it though he complied. Another player didn’t stop his self-rallies until I said I would be back on the court when he was done practicing and ready to have a warm-up rally.
