The 2012 Hardball Singles Championships again featured a strong field in the Men’s Open. With 12 players competing for the title, top seeded and defending champion Preston Quick survived a two game deficit in the first semifinal to Eric Christiansen. In the second semifinal, Chris Walker was unable to best the shot-making and pace of Sunny Hunt and lost three games to love. The final saw both players step up their games and, after Hunt won the third game 18-17, it was anyone’s match. The fourth game was close until 8-all, when Quick was able run off seven match ending points to repeat as champion.
