U.S. SQUASH thanks (L-R) Courtney Alpaugh, Edgardo Gonzalez, and Jackie Shea for their assiduous this summer

Summer months are traditionally the off season for squash, but not for the Interns at the U.S. SQUASH office in New York City. This summer’s three interns, Courtney Alpaugh, a rising sophomore at Boston College; Jackie Shea, heading off to George Washington University; and Edgardo Gonzalez, an incoming sophomore at Hobart College, worked diligently through the summer, completing every task and assignment given to them. The largest project the interns spearheaded was archiving past U.S. Squash Championship tournaments. It took a team effort to work through numerous squash yearbooks and tournament files to recreate tournaments into the U.S. Squash database.

Courtney’s helpful and enthusiastic attitude was perfect for managing the U.S. Squash Scholar Athlete Award program, which grew to nearly 200 applicants this past year. She also worked on membership mailings to help sustain and boost the growth of U.S. Squash along with writing several Squash Magazine segments.

Jackie worked on creating instructional videos for U.S. Squash website users to help members visually see how they can get the most out of their U.S. Squash membership. Jackie also offered invaluable assistance during the extremely busy tournament season.

Edgardo, a member of the urban program CitySquash, exercised a little journalism muscle writing articles for Squash Magazine as well as various news feeds on the U.S. Squash website. He also did a good deal of squash-related research and work on the the upcoming College Squash Association season schedule.
